Perception or Perspective?
It is essential to understand that this journey of self-transformation will be tough and bumpy. Of course, in the beginning, when the dopamine of motivation is peaking, you feel like it will be easy and fun. You feel like “let’s go, I am ready!”. But this state won’t last long. Motivation is what gives you a jump start, but discipline is what will keep you going.
Even when you understand motivation and discipline, you will sometimes face doubts and fear. Sometimes, your old self will try to get space in your head and question everything you are doing and why. That’s why it is crucial to understand the mechanisms of how it works so you can avoid disappointing yourself.
The best way to understand it and to keep it going is to a knowledge of how our psychology works. In other words, your current personality and the future one you are working towards are independent informational beings. Your current you is a result of years of decisions and perspectives about “myself”. It comes up from opinions of yourself about you, your environment, learnings, friends, family, and other circumstances.
What is important to remember here is that perception and perspective is not the same. We all have perception, but only self-aware people shape it to their perspective. Perspective that helps them towards their goals and dreams. Just think about it: we constantly perceive information from our 6 senses (yes, we have 6 basic senses - thinking is the 6th sense, according to Vedic knowledge). But do we constantly filter and shape that information to fulfill our higher needs and desires?
From now on, try to understand the difference between perception and perspective. Try to be more precise with your goals and the information you perceive during the day. Once it becomes a habit, you will be more conscious about your informational perception and shaping it to your perspective. Peace & Love. Art
